SEARCHING FOR FUNDS
For a recent fundraiser, the Klickitat County Search and Rescue Volunteers sponsored
bingo at the Goldendale High School cafeteria. Next up, the group will raffle off a hand-
made quilt, based on a wilderness theme, according to member Alice Bartoo. Search and
Rescue's most recent call came at Thanksgiving, to help with a car wreck on Satus Pass.
But for the back-country searches that come periodically, they want to be prepared: Funds
raised will go for search-dog training and a portable computer printer, to be used with a
donated laptop for producing maps at search sites. One time, said Bartoo, they were
called out on a search in a nearby county; "Only one person there had a map." Bingo play-
ers pictured include (LEFT TO RIGHT) Jeff King, Tom Kessler, Jr., Bob Baker, Zane Kems,
Pat Kessler, Linda Phelps, Alice Bartoo, Russell Bartoo, Eileen Porter, M'Lane Baker, Tom
Kessler, Sr, and Serena Hill (not pictured is Chuck Borer). For information - or an appli-
cation to join - call Eileen Porter at 773-4455.
