Opinion and
objectivity
workshop
May 22
Klickitat County A to Z will
present their next workshop,
"Opinion and Objectivity," on
May 22. It is the fifth one in the
monthly series for writers, story-
tellers, and interested partici-
pants. The workshops are held
from 9 a.m. until noon at the
Goldendale Public h~orary. Please
register by calling the library at
509-773-4487 or Teddy Cole at
5o9-773-5441. Space is limited to
30 people.
Wendy Warren will lead par-
ticipants through questions and
discussion based on persuasive
writing - i.e., a letter to an edi-
tor or to an agency when we wish
to fight a wrong; and objective
writing, i.e., reporting an acci-
dent or giving directions.
Project coordinator, Teddy
Cole states, 'These two kinds of
writing are the backbone of our
public writing."
Writing about our families, our
friends, our ancestors, our com-
munities, stirs our deepest emo-
tious, can we do it with detach-
ment, and should we try? Can it
be done in an unbiased way oris
it "slanted?"
Wendy Warren will lead us
through these questions and
more. Warren has mastered both
forms of writing through her
experience as a journalist, teacher,
and in her personal writing.
