OBITUARI
CAMERON-WILES
Georgia C. Cooke
Georgia was a beloved
wife, mother and grand-
mother who was devot-
edto and en yedbe
the center of her family.
Georgia died July 12,
20o4 in Vancouver at
the age of 87.
Georgia's maiden rome
career with J Nets
Company in 1953, (which
later became St. Regis
Paper Company and
Champion Interna-
tional) where she
worked as receptionist
and Administrative
Assistant to the Pumhas-

Southmayd and her
dosefarnay,
her husband Rex, affectionately
referred herto as"G.G".. She was
born May 6th, 1917 in Bayfield,
Wisconsin. She moved to Hiles,
W'~cousin in1927 and relocated
to Salon, Oregon in 793o and sub-
sequently to Klickitat, Washing-
ton, where she completed her high
school education. She briefly
attended Central Normal School in
Ellensburg, Washington where
she met her future husband Rex
Cooke, who preceded her in death
on March Ist, 2004. They shared
a rich married life for 67 years.
They moved to Vancouver in 20oz
to be near their family.
Georgia was a bright, articulate,
fun and fimnywoman. Her"one
liners" delighted farnfiy and friends
for many years. In her younger
years, she enjoyed writing, golfmg
and playing an active role in the
County Women's Repub-
lican Club. Georgia was also active
in the Ladies Aid Society of Grace
Lutheran Church. She began her

health. She enjoyed her
job and was proud of her work,
which she did exceptionally well.
Georgia is survived, and will be
dearly missed by her son Gary
Cooke and his wife Svea, her
daughter Kathleen Stavney and
her husband LS. (Bud), and her
daughter Janet Clarence and her
husband Bud.
Her seven grandchildren and
fourteen great -grandchildren also
survive Georgia. Her sisters,
Jeanette Caspari of West Allis,
Wisconsin and Patricia Marsh and
her husband Wilbur, of White
Salmon, Washington, her sister-
in-law Nina Bauer of Spokane,
Washington and numerous nieces
and nephews survive her as well.
Funeral services were held July
W in the chapel of Erdman Funer-
al Home, with interment at Mt.
View Cemetery in Goldendale.
Memorial contributions may be
made to Grace Lutheran Church
in Kliekitat.

Richard Williams
Richard Williams,
age 66, of Carson,
WA, owner and oper-
ator of Equity Tree
Service, was injured
on the job in Steven-
son on June 17th. He
passed away on July
nth, 20o4, at OHSU.
Richard was the son
of David and Nina
Williams of Wahkia-
cus, WA, both of
whom are deceased. He is sur-
vived by his wife Helen W'flliarns,
of Carson, WA; his son, David
Brandon Williams of Washou-
gal, WA; his daughter Susan
McClellan of Spirit Lake, ID, and
a brother, Leon Williams of
Wahkiaeus, WA.
In 1972, Richard completed his
Master of Divinity Degree at
Andrews University in Michigan
where he pastored for several
years. He then returned to Wash-
ington and operated his own tree
service in Vancouver and Port-
land for almost ao years. He did
some intermittent logging dur-
ing this time as well.
Richard later devel-
oped a liver disease
that r~/uired a trans-
plant in 1997. Just last
year Richard decided
it was time to get back
"into the trees again."
This was one of his
greatest loves. The

the Seventh-day, Adventist I
Church in Stevenson, part ofhis
ministry was to visit the inmates
each week at our local jail. This
was a ministry he enjoyed very
much. Richard was known by all
as a kind and giving person, sen-
sitive to the needs of others, and
loved bythose he encountered in
this area.
A memorial to his memorywfll
be held on Sunday, July 25, at
4:'00 p.m.~at the Stevenson Sev-
enth-day Adventist Church. The
invitation is open to all who wish
to attend.

Brandon Lewis, 25, of Center-
ville, died July 17, 2004, near his
home'.
He was born May lO, 1979, in
Spokane. Lewis attended school
in Centervflle and graduated from
Goldendale High School in 1997.
He enlisted in the Air Force and
was promoted to staff sergeant.

Doris Evelyn Hassing,
82, formerly of Golden-
dale, died July 8, 2004.
She was born Sept. 6,
1922, in Widnes, a small
town in England, to
William and Millicent
Ellis. Hassing met Gold-
endale resident, Archie
C. Brown, while he was DORIS
stationed in England
during World War II. Their cor-
respondence following his retm'n
from the war, resulted in her leav-
ing England, for Goldendale.
After only five years of marriage,
Arehie died at the age of 39. Two
years later, Doris married Joe
Hassing, Archie's best friend and
a neighboring farmer. The cou-
ple purchased the Goldendale
John Deere dealership, which
they operated together for more
than 25 years. They were mar-
ried for 23 years, when Joe died
of a heart attack at the age of 61.
Shortly after Joe's death, Doris
moved to Spokane to
be near her children
and grandchildren.
Hassing was
involved in the Cham-
ber of Commerce,
American Business
Women's Association,
Soroptimists, Poetry.
HASSING Scribes, the Catholic
church and the
Republican party.
Survivors include two children,
Steve Hassing, of Roseville, Calif.,
and Glynis Tucker, of Spokane;
four grandchildren, Ion, Cammy,
Rachel, and Jenny and two step-
grandchildren, Todd and Jacquie
Niva; one son-in-law, Doug, one
daughter-in-law, Kimberley; five
great-granddaughters and one
great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held
at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, at
the Erdman Funeral Home, 300
West Broadway, in Goldendale.
